CC AND SOPHIA SBCC.jpgSBSophia.jpg
The two are still in bed looking at pictures on a tablet…

CC:  I suppose we’re just gonna agree to disagree on Michael.
SOPHIA:  I just don’t understand why you can’t accept him for who he is.  Michael is gay and there’s nothing you can do about it. It was tough enough for him to come out, and he’s already dealt with so much in his life.
CC:  Sweetheart I’m just gonna see it your way.  I love Michael but I don’t love what he does.
SOPHIA:  What do you think he does?  Goes around sleeping with every guy he sees?  It doesn’t work like that CC.
CC:  Any other pictures you wanna look at?
SOPHIA:  Yes as a matter of fact I do.

SOPHIA swipes again to the next picture.

CC:  Oh look at my Samantha.
SOPHIA:  Yes she has definitely grown up.  I remember when she was a little girl and Mason and Julia would bring her to the house.  She was very heady.
CC:  And she grew up to be full of metaphors like her father.

They are all at the Orient Express.  Mason and Samantha are sitting on one side and Julia is sitting across from them.

SAMANTHA:  I really appreciate you guys taking me out to dinner.  You always knew the best to your daughter’s heart.
MASON:  Ahhh food...nourishing to the body and to the soul.
SAMANTHA:  Sometimes food can provide a source of comfort.  Soothing life’s ills, even if it’s just for a few moments while you’re chewing.
JULIA:  What about us?  Are we chopped liver?
MASON:  Another allusion to things that are edible.
SAMANTHA:  Mom, you and dad are a medium well filet mignon.
JULIA:  That’s nice of you to say, but it’s not gonna stop me.
SAMANTHA:  Come on mom please.
JULIA:  You work soooo much.  I mean, don’t you think about...someone special?
MASON:  She thinks about her dad all the time.  I’m as special as they come.
JULIA:  Come on Mason you know what I’m talking about.
MASON:  She gets all of her work ethic from you.
JULIA:  All work and no play.
SAMANTHA:  Mom I’m just fine.  I love working at the firm.
MASON:  She also got that from you, too.
SAMANTHA:  And I love my work.
JULIA:  I don’t want you to be like I was.  I want you to enjoy your life. Are you afraid of something?
SAMANTHA:  Yeah as a matter of fact I am.  I don’t want to end up like you and dad.  Married one day...divorced the next.

CAMERA PAN ON MASON...SLOW FADE TO THEME SONG

------------------

CC:  Her parents divorce really affected their kids.  Mason was never good at keeping a relationship.
SOPHIA:  Samantha buries herself in work and Zach is still jetsetting.
CC:  And Mason’s back under our roof again.

------------------

MASON:  Please learn from our history so you won’t be doomed.
SAMANTHA:  I’m trying dad.  My cases help me to keep my mind off of that fact that I...I don’t have anyone special in my life.
JULIA:  You gotta try to keep your heart open honey.  You just don’t know when that special someone’s gonna come along.
MASON:  Your mother and I are not together but we still want you to be happy.

DEBORAH BOSWELL SBDeborah.jpgand VANESSA BOSWELL SBVanessa.jpgwalk up to them.  The younger woman is looking on her phone.

MASON:  Hi Deborah, Vanessa.
DEBORAH:  Hi. How are you?
JULIA:  We’re great.
DEBORAH:  Vanessa and I decided to come out and have dinner tonight.
VANESSA (still looking on her phone):  Yeah mom.
DEBORAH:  Can you put that thing away for five minutes?
VANESSA:  I’m going to the restroom.

VANESSA WALKS THE OPPOSITE WAY to the restroom.

JULIA:  Why don’t you join us?
SAMANTHA:  I’d love to stay but I got…
JULIA:  Let me guess.  Work.
SAMANTHA:  Sorry mom.

SAMANTHA kisses JULIA on her left cheek.

SAMANTHA:  Love you. Good seeing you Deborah.
MASON:  And uh...I gotta get to the house.  They got a good special tonight. Bon appetit.
JULIA:  Well I...guess it’ll just be us.

DEBORAH SITS IN THE SEAT THAT MASON WAS IN, AS SHE PLACES HER PURSE STRAP ON THE SEAT…

DEBORAH:  Hey you know the police academy class is graduating tomorrow.   I like going to these because it brings me closer to Vic you know Vanessa and I are going with Cruz and Isabel.

---------------
CRUZ, ISABEL, and DIEGOSBCruz.pngSBIsabel.jpgSBDiego.jpg
ISABEL is in the kitchen cooking while DIEGO sits at the table.  She stirs the pot, turns the fire down, and sits across from Diego.

ISABEL:  As soon as the beans is done we can eat, and will you stop twiddling your thumbs?
DIEGO:  It’s kind of bittersweet.

ISABEL CONTINUES TO STIR THE BEANS.

ISABEL:  I understand.  This time tomorrow you’re gonna be a police officer.  You worked hard to get here.
DIEGO:  I know.
ISABEL:  Listen why don’t you calm down, the food’s almost done.  Why don’t have some chicken to start?

DIEGO GETS UP AND WALKS TOWARD THE SCREEN KITCHEN DOOR.

DIEGO:  I’m sorry mama I’m just...I’m thinking about…

ISABEL TURNS THE FIRE OFF ON THE STOVE, WALKS TO DIEGO, AND PUTS HER HANDS ON HIS SHOULDERS.

ISABEL:  You’re thinking about your brother aren’t you?
DIEGO:  I...I looked up to Angel.  Why did he have to get in so much trouble the way he did?  I was little but..it hurt me mama. It hurt me when I heard that he held up that clinic with Mason and Mary Duvall.
ISABEL:  I know mijo.
DIEGO:  At that moment I...realized that I didn’t wanna be like Angel.  I wanted to make a difference.
ISABEL:  Look at me.

DIEGO TURNS AROUND AND FACES ISABEL.

ISABEL:  I miss him, too.  I wish he made better choices with his life, but he’s gone.  We can’t bring him back, but you can still make a difference.  You have done so well for yourself. Don’t lose sight of that.
DIEGO:  If it weren’t for Cruz, I don’t know where I’d be.  He’s really been a father figure for me.
ISABEL:  Yes he has.  You are very lucky to have him.

CRUZ COMES IN THE SCREEN DOOR BEHIND DIEGO.

CRUZ:  Listen to your mama.  She’s very wise.
DIEGO:  Heeyyyyyy.

CRUZ AND DIEGO HUG.

ISABEL:  We were just talkin about you.
CRUZ:  Good things I hope.
DIEGO:  Of course man.
ISABEL:  I’m glad you came.
CRUZ:  Me, too because I’m hungry.
ISABEL:  I’ll fix you a plate.  Sit.

ISABEL WALKS TOWARD THE STOVE, LOOKS BACK AT CRUZ AND DIEGO, AND SMILES.

----------------------------------------

SOPHIA:  Mason has always been a..different person.
CC:  Ya think?

SOPHIA SWIPES TO THE NEXT SCREEN, GASPS, AND LOOKS AT CC, WHO REACHES FROM THE NIGHTSTAND, TAKES OUT A SMALL BLACK BOX.  AFTER HE OPENS IT, SOPHIA PUTS HER HAND ON HER MOUTH WITH SURPRISE.

SOPHIA:  Oh my God.  A vow renewal ceremony?  What is this?
CC:  It’s what the invitation to our ceremony looks like...and a ring.

CC TAKES THE RING OUT AND PLACES IT ON SOPHIA’S LEFT RING FINGER ON TOP OF HER OTHER RING.

SOPHIA:  You...wanna renew our vows.
CC:  Will you...renew your vows with me?
SOPHIA:  Yes...yes!

THEY KISS.

-----

MEANWHILE, IN ANOTHER LOCATION, IN A WHITE ROOM, A MYSTERY PERSON IS ALSO LOOKING AT THE INVITATION TO CC AND SOPHIA’S VOW RENEWAL CEREMONY ON A TABLET.  THIS PERSON GRABS A HAMMER, AND SMASHES THE TABLET GLASS.
